Can QR tags be used outdoors?

Yes. AX4 specifies durable QR access points suitable for the environment, including external, industrial and high-traffic locations. Tag material and placement are matched to the asset and site conditions.

What happens when asbestos is removed or encapsulated?

The digital asset record is updated to reflect the new status — removed, encapsulated, disturbed or re-identified — so what contractors see on scan matches the current state of the material.

Can this be added to an existing register?

Yes. Where an existing AX4 register is current, asset records can be converted into the digital format and linked to QR access points. Older registers may need review or refresh before conversion.

Is AX4 itself a NATA-accredited laboratory?

No. AX4 is not a NATA-accredited laboratory. Where laboratory analysis is required, samples are analysed by a NATA-accredited laboratory.

Does QR access guarantee compliance?

No. QR access supports accessibility and defensibility by making asbestos information available at the point of risk, but the duty to identify, assess, control and review asbestos rests with the PCBU and asbestos duty holder.
